The Art of Gratitude-Resting in Appreciation

November often brings a shift in pace, but not necessarily a slower one. As the holidays approach, calendars fill, to-do lists grow, and family gatherings and seasonal expectations can bring added stress. In the middle of all the activity, it can be easy to move from one thing to the next without taking a moment for ourselves. Perhaps this is exactly when we need to pause, take a breath, and reconnect with what is meaningful.

The Art of Gratitude is this month's invitation to rest in appreciation. Gratitude doesn't need to be grand or complicated. Sometimes it is found in a familiar morning ritual, a meaningful conversation, the strength of our bodies, or simply a moment when we feel at ease.

One simple practice to explore is the pause and notice technique. Once or twice throughout your day, take a moment to pause and identify three things you appreciate in that moment. They can be simple: a warm cup of coffee, sunlight through a window, or the opportunity to move your body. Rather than rushing through the list, give yourself a few seconds to genuinely experience each one.

Over time, these small moments of awareness can shift our attention from what is missing or unfinished toward what is present and meaningful.

This November, allow gratitude to be less about doing and more about noticing. A quiet practice of appreciation, without expectation or pressure.

May you find moments of appreciation in the ordinary, space to rest in what is already here, and a deeper sense of gratitude for the life unfolding around you.
